Soda-Fired Porcelain and Wood

This sculpture started off with a piece I made in a glassblowing intro class. It then sparked the idea to create plaster molds and slip cast copies of it.

I made 7 two-part plaster molds and used a cone 10 porcelain casting slip (Tom Spleth Recipe)

In total I made 106 slip cast pepper shapes. I then bisque fired them to cone 08.

After bisquing, the pieces were wadded and loaded into the soda kiln. They were not glazed.

Lastly I fired the piece to cone 7 (2262F) and then the piece was finished and ready for the exhibition!
